The Gene Technology Regulator (the Regulator) has decided to include certain activities (dealings) with GM canola on the GMO Register. The Regulator has decided that it is safe for anyone to conduct those activities with the GM canola without the need for a licence.
The GM canola known as MON-ØØØ73-7 canola is tolerant to the herbicide glyphosate.
The GM canola has been authorised for commercial growing in Australia since 2003 under Licence DIR 020/2002 and has a history of safe use.
